With the increasing usage of lithium-ion batteries in modern electronics such as handheld gadgets, electric cars, and grid-scale electronic storage, the number of wasted Li-ion batteries is also increasing. These batteries are both valuable and recyclable, yet only 5% are recycled owing to technological, economic, and other problems. Furthermore, it is anticipated that the final growth in li-ion battery waste will be ten times that of present consumption.
